New addresses, rankings regained. 40% more clicks, page three to page two.
This US manufacturer of fire-rated storage buildings, lockers and spill containment relaunched on a rebuilt website with an entirely new set of URLs in December 2025. I handled the SEO through that migration and the audit that came after it. Over the following nine months, clicks per month from Google rose about 40% and the average position improved from around 23 to 16.

Every page on a fresh address
The website was rebuilt and its whole URL structure replaced. Search Console first logged the new addresses in early December 2025, and that month the site averaged position 23, on page three, earning clicks in the low hundreds from roughly 13,000 impressions.
The catalogue is specialist: fire-rated buildings with two- and four-hour ratings, pallet lockers, drive-on containment and non-combustible steel buildings. Buyers search for each of these in their own vocabulary. The client had signed off a product menu of sixteen items for the new site in October 2025, and search engines had to relearn all of it from scratch.
Redirect first, then a page-by-page plan
There were two phases: the move itself, and an audit once the new site had several months of data behind it.
- 01
Map old to new
Before launch, the migration plan pointed a couple of dozen old addresses at their new equivalents with permanent redirects, guided by the approved product menu. The retired product URLs for fire-rated and palletised ranges stopped showing in Search Console after December, which is what a clean handover should look like.
- 02
Watch the first months
Over the first two complete months after launch, average position went from around 23 to 18. That suggested the redirects were carrying ranking signals across rather than dropping them, and it gave a stable baseline against which to judge everything that came later.
- 03
Audit what the move left behind
In August 2026 I set Search Console page data from the half-year before the move against the half-year after, and tested each redirect against the product menu and the sitemap as it stood live. That turned up seven redirects needing correction and six product pages that still had to be built.
- 04
Brief the next pages
I then gathered forty informational keyword ideas in five clusters, ranging over regulatory requirements and what fire ratings mean, and turned the plan into page briefs plus an on-page tracker covering just over a hundred URLs. About half are proposed new pages, with roughly seventy internal links to add. The briefs were completed at the very end of August, so no figure here reflects them.
Nine months on new URLs
Monthly clicks finished about 40% above where they began, and the average position rose from page three onto page two.
The count of page-one keywords grew about 20% between December and August, and across three-month windows it edged up by a little under a tenth. Those are steady gains rather than a spike, which is what I want to see from a migrated catalogue site before its new page plan goes live.
