A billing firm that search saw often and chose rarely. 320% more clicks in ten months.
I ran the SEO for a US medical billing company that serves independent healthcare practices. Google showed the site in tens of thousands of searches a month, yet very few ended in a visit. By March 2026 monthly clicks were up 320% on June 2025, the first quarter of 2026 out-earned the summer of 2025 by 230%, and average position had firmed from about 9 to 7.

A big audience that kept scrolling past
The company takes the work of getting paid off independent practices' hands: claims and coding, payer enrolment, chasing denied claims and the wider revenue cycle. Its site also keeps pages for particular specialties, from internal medicine and cardiology to behavioural health and wound care.
That June, Google showed the site in tens of thousands of searches, and only about a quarter of one per cent of them turned into a click. The rest of the summer barely moved: no month from June to August got as far as two hundred clicks. The site was being seen. It simply wasn't being chosen.
A wide brief and a scorecard that holds up
Two things framed this engagement: how much a specialist billing firm actually sells, and a scorecard built on the one number that shows a practice choosing the firm.
- 01
Account for every service
The firm's own site names eight lines of work: claims billing, credentialing, chasing denials, collecting patient balances, HIPAA compliance, management reporting, advisory work and full revenue-cycle management. Each of those is a separate search a practice manager might run, which makes this a wide brief for what is, at heart, a specialist firm.
- 02
Respect the specialty pages
Pages built around individual disciplines give a practice something written for its own corner of medicine rather than for healthcare in general. Specialty searches are narrower than generic billing terms, which suits a firm built around independent practices rather than large hospital systems.
- 03
Make clicks the headline
Impressions on this site were already large at the start, so growth in them alone would prove little. Clicks are the closest Search Console gets to a practice choosing the firm, so they lead every comparison in this case, month against month and quarter against quarter.
Ten months, two quarters side by side
March 2026 brought 320% more clicks than June 2025. Setting the first quarter of 2026 against June to August 2025, clicks rose 230%, and January, February and March each beat every month of the year before.
From October to March, monthly impressions grew 110% and average position improved from about 9 to 7. Across two ninety-day windows the site appeared about 100% more often each day. Clicks per impression have barely shifted, though, so the room left is in turning more of that visibility into visits.
